Crop body canon cameras can use the EF-S and EF mount since both lens types will work on those cameras. Full frame cameras can only accept the EF mount. Some third party crop lenses use the EF mount since it works on EF-S cameras and probably saves them in manufacturing costs, but still have the rear element that goes deeper into the camera body.
